Sheffield City GP Health Centre on Broad Lane is celebrating a fantastic first year today - 1st April 2010.

In its first year the GP-led health centre, which is open 8:00am to 8:00pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year, has seen thousands of patients on a walk-in basis and a large number of patients have registered with the surgery. Anyone can walk-in and receive NHS healthcare without being registered and people who live in Sheffield can register with the surgery if they wish.

Analysis of patient feedback forms not only shows a great year for patient numbers but also a high proportion of people rating convenience of the service as good or excellent. Figures reveal 95% of people rate the opening times as good or excellent and 87% state that the convenience of the location is excellent. Further comments included "Fantastic facility", "Good service, staff are very helpful" and "Family experience has been of excellent service".

The top reasons for using the surgery included: being able to see a health practitioner quickly and that the centres opening times and location were convenient.

Emelia Spencer, Operations Manager said: "We have had a fantastic first year at the centre, we have worked hard to offer a great service to the public and we are thrilled that the feedback reflects that. We are continuing to grow and improve on our service. This includes initiatives such as the extremely successful outreach programme screening hundreds of people all around the city to detect symptoms of cardiovascular disease."
