SHEFFIELD CITY GP HEALTH CENTRE CALLS ON BUDDING ARTISTS
Sheffield's NHS GP-led walk in centre on Broad Lane is calling for thousands of primary school children across the city to take part in The Art Challenge 2009.
The challenge will celebrate the launch of the centre's new website, www.walkinwhenyouneedus.com, which aims to raise public awareness of its facilities and offering. The Health Centre on Broad Lane, operated by One Medicare, is appealing for local children to enter the colouring competition, with the theme My Family and Me, in the run up to Christmas.
Winners will see their art featured in and around the Centre, which will launch its new look in January 2010.
The pictures will be judged by a panel of local professionals, including One Medicare Local Medical Director, Dr Daniel Albert. Judges will choose a total 365 best entries, one to represent each day the Health Centre will be open in 2010, to feature in and around the building.
Dr Daniel Albert, Local Medical Director, said: "The Sheffield City GP Health Centre is a resource dedicated to providing anyone in Sheffield with free NHS healthcare from a doctor or nurse. Members of the public can simply walk-in 365 days a year, at any time between 8am and 8pm.
"We want to raise awareness of the Health Centre to families, and what's better than allowing the community to be involved in giving the centre a new look. We're looking forward to seeing all the creative pieces local children have to offer in The Art Challenge 2009."
What's more, 12 winners will have their artwork made into a special community calendar display. They will also receive sporting vouchers to enjoy in one of Sheffield's many leisure facilities.
The Art Challenge is now open, with all entries to be received by Friday 11 December. Getting involved is easy. All Sheffield children aged up to 12 can enter simply by sending their pieces of artwork, reflecting the theme My Family and Me to Emelia Spencer at the centre.
