NHS Chief Executive Launches Sheffield City GP Health Centre
Sheffield's newest healthcare facility, Sheffield City GP Health Centre, celebrated the success of its first two months yesterday, Thursday 4 June, with an official launch, and David Nicholson CBE, Chief Executive of the NHS, was on hand to help.
Mr Nicholson took time out of his busy diary to visit the new health centre, meet with staff, local business, community leaders, and patient groups, and take a tour of the new facilities.
NHS Chief Executive, David Nicholson, said: "This is a fantastic new centre for the people of Sheffield which is improving both access and choice to health care. I would like to congratulate everyone who has been involved in making this happen. It's an example of how the NHS is working to fit health services around the lives of people."
Dr Phillip Earnshaw, One Medicare's Medical Director, added: "I am delighted that Mr Nicholson could be here today to officially launch the new City GP Health Centre. We are very proud of this fantastic new centre and the services we offer to the Sheffield community, it is already being well used and we will develop our services by responding to patient needs and suggestions."
Penny Brooks-Cordon, Director of Standards and Engagement at NHS Sheffield, said: "We want these new services to offer first class healthcare for the people of Sheffield. We are confident that One Medicare will deliver this, and we'll be closely monitoring the new services to ensure they meet all of the exacting NHS quality standards."
Azzizzum Akhtar, Co-ordinator of Sheffield LINk added: "This centre is clearly a good thing for the people who live, work and travel to Sheffield. Being able to book an appointment even if you are not registered with the surgery is a great benefit and means people like me who work in the centre will not need to take time off work to visit their own surgery during normal working hours."
The Sheffield City GP Health Centre is situated in the Devonshire Quarter, on the corner of Rockingham Street and Broad Lane next to Sheffield University's Faculty of Engineering. For more information please contact Sheffield City GP Health Centre on 0114 241 2700, or visit www.onemedicare.co.uk
